Whenever I am faced with a challenging decision, such as what my major should be, or what to do about certain individuals, I tend to use the term "Debating". I am "debating" in my mind whether I should do such and such major or I am "debating" what to do about a certain boy for instance.
Well, a friend of mine brought up the realization that humans now-a-days seem to use debate far more often then the word "Decide". Why does it matter? Well because debate is a back and forth argument that may or may not ever come to a conclusion. Where as deciding forces one to come to a conclusion.
Example!
For a while I have been "debating" on what I should major in. There is no commitment in that statement! So I signed up for a career exploration class and so far, it has been helping me reach more narrowed conclusions as to what I am interested in. I still am not sure but I am trying to decide.
Example # 2!
This guy I know...well I met him up here at BYUI and I really kinda liked him. But he was being a fence sitter and debating which of two girls he wanted to go with. Well, me being the go-getter individual that I am, decided to call him out on that. And guess what?! haha He chose me :) So it was far nicer for him to decide than it would have been with him still in the debating mind frame. I don't particularly like being in indecisive debates. They are quite frustrating :)
So! The Point of this whole "thought" of the day is to stop being a debater! No one likes it! And it's frustrating! Start making "decisions" and you will go much further in life! :)
THE END!
