Let's talk about a Mission...

I have the greatest roommate ever! Marie just got back from her mission a week before Fall semester started. I absolutely love when she talks about experiences she had while serving a mission. Her enthusiasm and love she has for a mission is contagious!!!

Every time I start having doubts creep in about not being adequate enough, or being scared about dedicating a year and a half of my life to the mission, she is there to excite me again :)

She gave me several quotes today that stuck out to me soo much! I mean, I think that every missionary goes into the missionary field feeling like they are lacking in abilities...

Here's one: "God doesn't ask us about our ability, he asks us about our availability. And if we then prove our dependability, He increases our capability." -Elder Neil A. Maxwell

God doesn't call the Qualified, He Qualifies the CALLED! God doesn't much care how knowledgeable you are about the gospel. He cares whether you have a desire to serve or not. And then with his help, He will give you the strength you need to do His work.

Another one: "When much is expected, much is given." Missionaries have huge responsibilities on a mission. And it can be very emotionally and mentally taxing. But it is important to remember that God did not leave us alone, He will provide us with Divine streangth and power to accomplish amazing things.

Please Remember WHY you chose to go on a mission, what ever that WHY is, it will either carry you through your mission, or cut you short. 

My WHY? I love this gospel. I makes me happy. And I want to share that happiness with everyone that I can. I want others to feel God's love and live with their families for Eternity.

Depression, Anxiety, Suicide...There are so many ideas and words attached to them. I am not going to claim I know what it is like to want to kill yourself...but..I would like to share some thoughts and ideas that have been accumulating in my head since the suicide of a very close friend just a month ago yesterday... Debate vs. Decide

Whenever I am faced with a challenging decision, such as what my major should be, or what to do about certain individuals, I tend to use the term "Debating". I am "debating" in my mind whether I should do such and such major or I am "debating" what to do about a certain boy for instance. Well, a friend of mine brought up the realization that humans now-a-days seem to use debate far more often then the word "Decide". Why does it matter? Well because debate is a back and forth argument that may or may not ever come to a conclusion. Where as deciding forces one to come to a conclusion. Example! For a while I have been "debating" on what I should major in. There is no commitment in that statement! So I signed up for a career exploration class and so far, it has been helping me reach more narrowed conclusions as to what I am interested in. I still am not sure but I am trying to decide. I had a recent conversation with a close friend about Faith and Fear. This person was stressing about the future and feeling worry and wondering if things would work out the way he was wanting them to. He was struggling and feeling overwhelmed. This is what I shared with him. Faith CANNOT exist where there is fear and worry. God says over and over again to "Be not afraid, only believe." and "ask in faith and it shall be given you." These phrases are repeated quite often in the scriptures.  God wants us to place our faith in Him. He has promised that when we chose Faith over Fear, then He will be with us, He will bless us, and He will answer our prayer. I BELIEVE IN MIRACLES. I ASK for Miracles. I have learned two things through my trials growing up. 1. God WANTS to bless us. 2.
